The log storage permits deposit of the logs, which are usualy transported by a lift on the loading table, and provdes for engagement of the pusherThe range has several technical solutions: the most widespread are the single or double log storage with accessibility for loading from one or bothides of the pusher, or with a rack ystem. The latter version is particularly useful for the extrusion of several aloys, without having to free the loading, which is necessary in case of use of simple logs storage.
The logs coming from the chains of the loading table arrive on these rolls. A longitudinal plate driven through hydraulic cylinder acts like a shock absorber in order to reduce the hits on the structure during the overturning of the log on the rollway. Then a pusher, moved by an hydraulic motor and controlled by an encoder, will push the logs into the furnace.
The above mentioned pusher is acting also as measuring system by means of which each log is measured.
The position of the joining face between one log and the next one is known by the PLC.
Cut by cut, the situation of each log is kept under control so the system automatically knows when the rest of the log is minor than the prescribed length and so that a particular cycle has to be performed by the hot shear.
The brushing machine can be inserted between the pusher and the heating oven: the use of this machine is advsable if the external surface of theogs is contaminated wth impurites. Removal of the contaminated layer guarantees improved quality of the extruded materal and increases the durabilty of the die, reducing phenomena of abrasion. Cleaning is entrusted to the mechanical action of brushes with counter weights, which rotate athioh speed around the log during its advancement. the dust removed is captured by an aporopriate suction system connected to a fiter. Particularcare has heen taken in establishing the dimensions of the filter which is a veritanle satety device.
